International Conference on Smart Education and Digital Literacy

THEME: “Empowering African Smart Education through Emerging Technologies.”

Sub-Saharan Africa, particularly Nigeria, faces a myriad of developmental challenges, including poverty, illiteracy, insecurity, and frequent emergencies. With over 44% of Nigeria's population under the age of 15, it is imperative to forge a sustainable path for educational development that can create a digitally skilled workforce, essential for harnessing significant demographic dividends.

In response, Nigeria, through the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), has demonstrated a renewed commitment to redefining the delivery of basic education by leveraging digital-first global best practices.

This shift aims to realign strategic focus towards smart education and digital learning in congruence with Nigerian and African education goals. In this context, the proposed International Conference on Smart Education, in partnership with the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), is envisaged as a platform to foster scholarly discussions, generate useful ideas, insights, and learning opportunities to achieve quality, inclusive, and smart-driven education in Nigeria and Africa.

Beyond the main theme of the conference, various sub-themes will address critical issues and ideas to ensure the adoption and implementation of smart education and digital learning best practices by African countries, ultimately transforming their education systems.
The Conference will take place in Abuja, Nigeria, 6th-9th May 2025. This exciting event will focus on the theme: “Empowering African Smart Education through Emerging Technologies.” It will bring together smart education educators, policymakers, researchers, and technology leaders from across Africa to explore how technology can revolutionize education on the continent.
